Working results stay in the browser
Test My Display keeps timing samples, inspection observations and touch-test working data in the page’s memory. Results are not automatically uploaded to our server. Test My Display does not include analytics tracking.
Reloading or leaving a tool normally clears its in-memory run. Reset clears that tool’s working state. The explicit language-switch handoff below is the exception for moving supported working data to the matching language page.
Inspection notes and touch data
Screen inspection keeps visited patterns, recorded outcomes, approximate location marks and optional notes locally. The report contains what you recorded. Observation text and marked locations are not added to shared settings URLs.
The touchscreen test handles pointer positions, contact identifiers and event timing within the test area to draw coverage, count simultaneous contacts and record the hands-off check. Mouse preview is identified separately. This working data is processed locally; the tool does not request camera or microphone access.
A short-lived language handoff
When you explicitly choose the matching language page, supported inspection or touch state can be copied to this tab’s session storage as a one-use handoff with a two-minute expiry. The receiving page removes that stored copy when it reads it. Reset clears the handoff for the relevant tool. The handoff is temporary and belongs to this tab.
Observations and notes stay out of the language link itself. If session storage is blocked, or the handoff expires, the working record may not transfer. Download a report first if you need to keep it.
Downloads and copied reports
When you choose a report download, the browser creates a local file. Downloading does not automatically send it to Test My Display. The file can include your inspection notes and locations or the touch result, so review it before sharing. Resetting the tool does not remove files you have already downloaded.
A copied report is placed on your device’s clipboard. You choose where to paste it. Clipboard history and synchronization depend on your device settings.
What a settings link includes
A voluntary settings link can include duration, animation load, the optional selected refresh rate, requested motion rates, motion speed or the selected inspection pattern in the URL fragment, the part after #. It reopens a configuration. Raw timing samples, inspection notes, marked locations and touch traces are not published in that fragment.
A URL fragment is handled by the browser rather than included in an ordinary HTTP page request. Anyone receiving the link can still read its settings, and the address may appear in your browser history. Review it before sharing.
PPI inputs and screen readings
The PPI calculator processes resolution, diagonal, units and comparison options in the page. Its optional settings link can include those values in a fragment. Screen information reads browser-provided sizes, orientation and pixel ratios locally; Copy report takes a snapshot when you choose it. These tools do not upload the working readings or keep an account history.
Access and server operation
WordPress administration may use necessary authentication cookies. Our hosting provider, Namecheap, stores web server access logs that can include your IP address, requested page, request time and browser details. Namecheap’s explanation of server logs describes these records. Logs and archives follow the hosting service’s log settings.
